Orthodontic Care for Teens in Jersey City

A treatment plan that includes your teen’s voice

Orthodontic treatment is a meaningful commitment for both teens and parents. At Miso Orthodontic Studio, we take time to understand what your teen wants to change, explain the options clearly, and create a plan that considers their smile, bite, stage of development, and daily routine.

Straightening teeth is one part of the plan. We also assess how the upper and lower teeth fit together, whether permanent teeth are erupting as expected, and how jaw relationships and remaining growth may affect treatment choices.

We ask about previous orthodontic treatment, medical and dental history, oral habits, and breathing or sleep concerns. Your teen’s own priorities matter, too—whether that means crowding, spacing, prominent teeth, or feeling more comfortable with their smile.

Braces or clear aligners: which is right for my teen?

Both braces and clear aligners can be effective options for teens. In some cases, one offers a clinical advantage over the other because of the specific tooth movements or bite issues that need to be addressed. We will explain which option is better suited to your teen’s needs and why.5

Some treatment plans involve additional appliances or elastics. We will explain why they are recommended and how they contribute to the result.

Starting for the first time—or returning after Phase I

Your teen may be beginning orthodontic treatment for the first time or returning after early treatment. Either way, we assess their current needs rather than assume that every teenager needs the same approach.

If your teen previously had an expander, braces, or another appliance, please share those records when available. We will review what has already been addressed and discuss the goals of any additional treatment.

Making treatment work with everyday life

School, sports, music, and social plans are part of the conversation. We will discuss appointment expectations, cleaning around appliances, caring for aligners, and any changes needed for your teen’s activities.

We also explain the responsibilities that help treatment progress: keeping appointments, following appliance instructions, and maintaining good oral hygiene. Teens deserve to understand the reasons behind those instructions and have space to ask questions.

Clear answers for teens and parents

At the consultation, we will discuss the recommended treatment, an estimated timeline, fees, and payment options. Your family can also review our Consult FAQs for an overview of costs and preparation.
